Brothers Orion and North Ginsburg Chan Shine in 'Ted Lasso' Season 4

Real-life brothers Orion and North Ginsburg Chan have landed significant roles as Archie and Sean, the sons of Lizzie Davis (Faye Marsay), in the latest season of Apple TV+'s hit comedy, "Ted Lasso." The boys, who were discovered by a local modeling agency, transitioned to acting and were eventually cast in the Emmy-winning series.

Orion, now six, was initially scouted in 2023. His mother, a fan of the show, was thrilled when Orion received an audition request for "Ted Lasso." After a series of auditions, Orion secured the role of Archie. Shortly after production began, North, now ten, auditioned for and was cast as Archie's older brother, Sean. "We didn’t expect it to happen; we just thought it was great that he had the opportunity to audition," North's mother recalled. "Then next thing we know, they’re both on 'Ted Lasso.' I was like, ‘I can’t believe this is happening.'"

Their first joint scene aired in Season 4, Episode 7, titled "Yes & Baby." The episode opened with a scene in Lizzie’s kitchen, featuring the brothers together. North described the experience as "really special," noting the sibling bond on screen and his pride in Orion's performance.

Orion made his "Ted Lasso" debut in Season 4, Episode 3, "Richmond’s Got Talent." He appeared alongside Jason Sudeikis, who plays Ted Lasso. Orion shared that Sudeikis offered him acting tips and showed him that even experienced actors make mistakes during filming, recalling a humorous incident where a crisp bag repeatedly broke open during a scene.

Both brothers found memorizing lines to be relatively easy. Orion, who was four during filming, relied on listening to his lines, while North, who could read his scripts, also utilized the listening technique. "My main technique, and I think my brother’s, is I read them out once off the script and then I listen to them while I’m playing with my toys or doing something else," North explained.

They also shared their experiences working with Faye Marsay, who plays their mother, Lizzie. North praised Marsay's acting skills, calling it a "big privilege" to watch her perform, and noted her football skills. Orion also enjoyed his time with Marsay.

In another memorable scene, Orion's character, Archie, is present in the women's locker room. This scene involved Orion reading the "Believe And Win" sign aloud and receiving high fives from the team. Orion described the scene as a favorite memory, highlighting how Jason Sudeikis's organic approach to filmmaking led to a different outcome than originally planned.

The brothers' shared experience extended to the Season 4 finale, where they were shown together in the locker room and walking onto the pitch with the team. They expressed their belief that the series effectively emphasizes the equality and quality of women's football.

While both boys are football fans and play the sport, they admitted they were too young to watch "Ted Lasso" before joining the cast. Orion favors "Minions & Monsters," and North recently enjoyed "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." They found it a "really weird" but "amazing" experience to see themselves on television.

The cast and crew of "Ted Lasso" were welcoming to the young actors. Orion's mother noted that everyone "really took care of them," with Faye Marsay in particular bonding with Orion.

Looking ahead, Orion and North are eager to continue acting. Orion has expressed his desire to act "until [he’s] very old," while North finds the ability to explore different characters and emotions "amazing." They recently collaborated on the upcoming feature film "Coming of Age," directed by Josh Appignanesi, where they played the same character at different ages. Orion's short film "The Story Teller" premiered and won Best UK Short Film at the London Independent Film Festival, and North's short film "August 31st, 1997" premiered at the Bolton Film Festival.

While "Ted Lasso" has not yet been officially renewed for a fifth season, the Ginsburg Chan brothers are hopeful for future roles. Their mother expressed a desire to see them share scenes with other young cast members and potentially with Hannah Waddingham.
