Bonnie Tyler's last studio recording, titled "Love, Light and Peace," is scheduled for release as a Christmas single on November 13, 2026. The announcement comes over a year after the Welsh singer, born Gaynor Hopkins, passed away in July at the age of 75 following emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal.
Her husband of 50 years, Robert Sullivan, described the past year as "heartbreaking" and shared that he misses her "every single day." He noted Tyler's dedication to her craft, stating, "Gaynor never stopped working. She loved singing, she loved her fans, and she poured her whole heart into these songs." Sullivan added that Tyler would often work on new material with producer David Mackay between live shows and that she would have wanted people to hear her final recordings.
"Love, Light and Peace" was written by Chrissie Hammond and Terry Britten, with Britten and David Mackay producing. Britten, who had previously played guitar on Tyler's debut album in 1977, reunited with the singer for her final recorded work. This release follows other posthumous singles, including "Yes I Can" in January 2025 and "Only Love" in March 2026.
Tyler, known for her husky vocals and hits like "Total Eclipse of the Heart," had a career spanning five decades. She was discovered by talent scout Roger Bell in a Swansea club and was once dubbed "the female Rod Stewart." In August, a celebration of life service was held for her in Swansea.
November would have marked the middle of Tyler's planned Jubilee Tour across Europe, celebrating 50 years since her breakthrough hit "Lost in France" in 1976.
