Billie Piper Debuts Darker Hair at Savannah Film Festival
The actress also received the Marquee Award at the event.
Billie Piper showcased a striking transformation with newly darkened raven locks at a gala screening of "Elsinore" during the Savannah Film Festival on Thursday.
Piper, 44, previously known for her lighter copper hair, arrived at the event with her changed look. She wore a red ribbon-embellished jacket and skirt ensemble by the brand Lurline, accessorized with black heels featuring gold lace and dazzling jewelry.
Following the screening, Piper was honored with the Marquee Award. During her acceptance speech, she emphasized the importance of actively engaging with life, stating, "You need to keep engaging in life." She further elaborated that experiencing the world beyond the set or theater is crucial for observation and learning to portray diverse human experiences.
"Elsinore" is a drama based on the life of Scottish actor Ian Charleson, renowned for his role in "Chariots of Fire." The film centers on 1989 when Charleson took on the demanding role of Hamlet at the National Theatre after Daniel Day-Lewis withdrew. Charleson was reportedly ill with AIDS at the time, and undertaking the challenging part of Hamlet was known to potentially hasten his decline.
Andrew Scott stars in the film and has already garnered attention for his performance, with some reviews suggesting it could be Oscar-worthy. Piper portrays Patsy, a casting director and close friend of Charleson, who offers him the Hamlet role.
Earlier in October, Piper attended the Variety London Film Festival Dinner in a distinctive outfit featuring a furry strapless dress and a wide-brimmed black hat. She was seen mingling with actress Gemma Chan. Piper completed that look with pointed black heels, a black clutch, diamond drop earrings, and purple eyeliner.
Prior to that event, Piper made a statement at the opening night of the British Film Institute London Film Festival. She wore a black and white Emilia Wickstead gown, leather gloves, and pointed black heels. Her dramatic makeup included heavy grey eyeliner, and her hair was slicked back. At that event, she was pictured with "Elsinore" co-stars Andrew Scott and Olivia Colman.
