Billie Piper and Olivia Colman Sparkle at "Elsinore" Premiere
The "Elsinore" co-stars graced the BFI London Film Festival opening night with their presence, celebrating the European premiere of their new drama.
Billie Piper, Olivia Colman, and Andrew Scott captured attention at the BFI London Film Festival opening night on Wednesday, marking the European premiere of their film "Elsinore."
Piper, 44, was seen engaging playfully with Scott, 49, on the red carpet. Scott and Colman shared an affectionate moment, holding hands.
The trio proceeded into the Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall for the premiere. The film festival commenced on Wednesday and is scheduled to run through Sunday, October 18, with events taking place across various London cinemas.
For the screening, Piper wore an Emilia Wickstead gown paired with leather gloves and black pointed heels. Her look was enhanced by dramatic grey eye makeup and her blonde hair was slicked back.
Colman, who recently revealed a new long grey hairstyle, wore her hair in a chic braid. She previously debuted this style at the premiere for her film "Wicker" and later showcased it at Paris Fashion Week in the Miu Miu runway show. Colman's ensemble for the "Elsinore" premiere consisted of a cream and black dress, accessorized with silver drop earrings.
Scott sported a brown double-breasted jacket, a white shirt, and a printed tie, complemented by a floral buttonhole.
"Elsinore" is a drama based on the life of Scottish actor Ian Charleson, known for his role in "Chariots of Fire." The film's narrative centers on 1989, when Charleson took on the demanding role of Hamlet at the National Theatre shortly after Daniel Day-Lewis withdrew. Charleson was reportedly already ill with AIDS, aware that portraying Hamlet could hasten his decline.
Scott's performance in the film has been highlighted, with The Guardian reportedly considering it a potential "Oscar-worthy" portrayal. Piper portrays Patsy, a close friend and colleague of Charleson who, as a casting director, presents him with the opportunity to play Hamlet.
The cast appeared to have developed a strong rapport during the film's production, as evidenced by their interactions on the red carpet.
Joe Locke, known for "Heartstopper," is credited in the film as playing Nicholas, and Louis Healy, brother of musician Matty Healy, also appears in "Elsinore."
