Bar Leone in Hong Kong Crowned World's Best Bar by 50 Best Rankings

Hong Kong's Bar Leone has been named the world's best bar in the latest 50 Best rankings, an annual list that highlights leading cocktail establishments globally.

The Roman-inspired bar, led by Italian bartender Lorenzo Antinori, earned the top spot for its vibrant atmosphere and classic cocktails. Founded in 2023, Bar Leone has quickly gained recognition, securing its position for the second consecutive year. Patrons should expect queues as the bar does not accept reservations.

Following closely in second place is Moebius Milano in Milan, Italy, noted for its unique cocktail menu, which includes inventive creations like a Pesto martini and a tzatziki highball. The bar also offers tapas and live jazz on select nights.

Alquímico in Cartagena, Colombia, secured the third position, celebrated for its all-female bartending team and a commitment to using rare regional ingredients sourced from local farmers in the Montes de Maria mountains. The bar has a partnership with disadvantaged farmers in the region.

Other notable entries in the top five include Bar Us in Bangkok, known for its Thai cuisine-inspired drinks, and Line in Athens, which was previously named Europe's best bar and focuses on fermented ingredients.

The UK is represented by three bars in the top 50, all located in London. Among them, the Connaught Bar, known for its signature dry martini served tableside from a trolley, ranked eighth. Satan's Whiskers and Waltz also made the list, appearing at numbers 29 and 32 respectively.

Several other cities featured prominently, with Mexico City, New York, Paris, and Barcelona each having multiple bars recognized. Handshake Speakeasy and Bar Mauro in Mexico City were listed at sixth and tenth, while Schmuck and Sip & Guzzle in New York appeared at eleventh and fourteenth. Paris boasts Cambridge Public House (13th), Bar Nouveau (15th), and De Vie (23rd), while Barcelona is represented by Sips (16th) and the highly acclaimed Paradiso (17th), which was named the world's best bar in 2022.

The rankings encompass a diverse range of bar experiences, from speakeasies hidden behind refrigerator doors, such as Hope & Sesame in Guangzhou (12th), to establishments that blend culinary arts with mixology, like Jigger & Pony in Singapore (18th).

Argo, located in Hong Kong's Four Seasons Hotel, is noted for its futuristic approach, incorporating AI-produced gin and molecular-aged whiskey into its offerings, placing 25th on the list. The full list of the world's 50 best bars spans the globe, with entries from Seoul, São Paulo, Medellín, Oslo, and more, highlighting a rich diversity in cocktail culture and bar innovation.
