Austin Butler was recently seen on set in Wayne, New Jersey, filming the upcoming remake of the classic '80s action-thriller, "Miami Vice '85." The Universal Pictures production is being directed by Joseph Kosinski.
Butler is set to portray James “Sonny” Crockett, a role famously originated by Don Johnson in the original series. He was photographed in costume, channeling the iconic '80s aesthetic with white suits and sunglasses. His co-star in the remake is Michael B. Jordan, who will play Tubbs.
Filming has also involved co-stars Danny Ramirez and Dominic Sessa. Production has been underway at various locations, including a strip mall and a liquor store, with period-accurate vehicles and props present on set to recreate the '80s atmosphere.
The original "Miami Vice" television series aired from 1984 to 1989 and became a cultural phenomenon for its fashion, music, and stylized depiction of crime and police work in Miami.
