Ariana Grande Debuts New Bob Hairstyle Amid Hiatus
The pop star surprised fans by sharing photos of her transformed look on Instagram.
Ariana Grande has surprised fans with a new hairstyle, debuting a bob cut after stepping away from the public eye for a planned hiatus. The 33-year-old pop star shared a series of selfies on Instagram Thursday, showcasing her freshly trimmed and styled chin-length bob.
Grande ditched her signature high ponytail for the shorter style, which featured flipped ends and a side part. The color appeared to be her natural chocolate brunette. She captioned the post with a simple heart emoji, prompting a flood of praise from fans and fellow celebrities in the comments section.
Earlier this year, Grande announced a planned break from the spotlight following the conclusion of her Eternal Sunshine tour. Her appearance in a music video for her song "Petal" over the summer had raised concerns among fans due to her visibly protruding sternum.
In August, she withdrew from her West End role in "Sunday in the Park with George" amidst "ongoing public scrutiny" regarding her apparent weight loss. The production was subsequently canceled after both Grande and co-star Jonathan Bailey withdrew. A spokesperson for Grande stated at the time that she would be "taking a step back from visibility" after the tour to focus on her health and well-being, aiming to finish the tour on a positive note before taking a break from public-facing work.
Grande clarified to fans that the hiatus was planned well in advance and was not a reaction to negativity. She has been on this planned break since wrapping her tour in early September. While she has not been making public appearances, she has continued to engage on social media, promote her beauty brand, and prepare for a press tour.
Her upcoming film "Focker-in-Law" is scheduled to premiere on Thanksgiving, and she is reportedly committed to promoting the movie despite her hiatus. Additionally, Grande has been sharing glimpses of her rekindled relationship with dancer-turned-photographer Ricky Alvarez, who she initially dated from 2015 to 2016. The couple confirmed their reunion in July, a few months after her split from "Wicked" co-star Ethan Slater.
