Actors Anson Boon and Ellie Bamber were recently photographed filming a scene for the upcoming film "Halftime Hero" in London. The scene depicts Boon's character proposing to Bamber's character with a ring hidden inside a box of chocolates, reminiscent of a classic romantic comedy.

However, the film's plot centers on a more unusual subject: one of football's cult legends. "Halftime Hero" tells the true story of Steve Davies, a dedicated West Ham fan who, in the 1990s, found himself on the pitch and scored a goal during a match against Oxford City.

Boon, 26, and Bamber, 29, who previously starred in "The Trial of Christine Keeler," are portraying Davies and his girlfriend Penny, respectively. The film has been described by its producers as a blend of "Billy Elliot" and "The Full Monty."

The set photos show Boon on one knee, presenting Bamber with what appears to be a fictional brand of chocolates, MaltMelts, concealing an engagement ring. Bamber's character reacts with surprise before embracing him.

Directed by Sir Ridley Scott's production company, Scott Free, the film also features Eddie Marsan as former West Ham assistant manager Harry Redknapp. It is slated for release next year.

The narrative is based on the real-life events of 1994 when Davies, then 27 and working as a courier, was positioned near the West Ham dugout during a pre-season friendly against Oxford City. He reportedly directed consistent criticism at striker Lee Chapman. According to the story, Redknapp then invited Davies to take Chapman's place on the field during halftime. Davies entered the game and scored a goal in West Ham's 4-0 victory.

Davies himself has called the experience "the greatest moment in my life." He also commented in a 2013 interview about his physical condition at the time, noting his high cigarette consumption and consumption of alcoholic beverages before the match.
