The World of David Walliams attraction at Alton Towers has permanently closed, the theme park announced. The closure comes as Alton Towers "regularly assesses all elements of our attraction offering" and follows a "regular review of rides and attractions," according to the park.

The attraction, which featured rides such as Gangsta Granny: The Ride, Raj's Bouncy Bottom Burp, and the Royal Carousel, opened in 2021. The park's creative team collaborated with author David Walliams and HarperCollins Children's Books to develop the area.

Walliams is a prolific children's author, with over 40 books published. His works have sold more than 60 million copies globally and have been translated into 55 languages. Some of his books, including "Gangsta Granny" and "Billionaire Boy," have also been adapted into television films. Walliams gained early fame in the sketch comedy series "Little Britain" in the early 2000s.

Guests are encouraged to check the Alton Towers Resort website and app for the latest information on attraction openings, as the park is no longer in its main season.
