Alison Hammond Returns Home After Hospital Visit
The "This Morning" presenter believes she experienced a panic attack during Friday's broadcast.
Alison Hammond has returned home after being taken to the hospital during Friday's episode of "This Morning." The Birmingham-born presenter stated she believes she experienced a panic attack while on air.
"It felt very real to me. I'm really new to panic attacks, so I need to learn more about it," Hammond said, adding that she wanted to thank NHS staff and her colleagues.
Hammond, who also co-hosts "The Great British Bake Off," left the ITV show at 11:30 BST during a segment on pets. Her co-host, Dermot O'Leary, addressed her absence, initially stating she was "feeling a little unwell" and had to "duck out." He later informed viewers that Hammond would not be returning for the remainder of the show.
"It's really warmed my heart actually. I didn't necessarily want to be on the news or anything like that but this is a new world to me," Hammond commented. "I'm going to take stock, take some rest and I'll see you soon."
Hammond gained prominence as a contestant on the Channel 4 reality series "Big Brother." She has since appeared on "I'm A Celebrity" and "Strictly Come Dancing." Hammond joined "This Morning" as a co-host in 2021, and the program received a National Television Award for best daytime program the following year. In 2023, she became a host for "The Great British Bake Off," and in 2024, she took over for the late Paul O'Grady on "For the Love of Dogs."
