Alexa Chung Confirms Engagement to Tom Sturridge, Showcases 'Haunted' Tudor Ring

Alexa Chung has officially confirmed her engagement to actor Tom Sturridge, revealing the distinctive Tudor-era ring he used to propose.

In a photoshoot for More Or Less Magazine, Chung, 42, displayed her engagement ring, which she described as a "haunted" piece of history. "My engagement ring is a Tudor... Tom knows how much I adore vintage and antiques, and he got me a beautiful Tudor ring. It's like a table-cut diamond," she stated.

The design of the ring drew parallels for Chung with jewelry worn by figures from the court of Henry VIII, including Anne Boleyn. She noted seeing similar rings on portraits of those who perished under Henry VIII's reign. The unique nature of the ring even prompted a humorous reaction from her hairstylist in Paris, who exclaimed, "Oh my god, I think your ring is haunted."

This marks the first public confirmation of the couple's engagement, which had been rumored since June 2023 when Chung was seen wearing a ring at a birthday celebration. Further speculation arose in 2024 during Paris Fashion Week, with reports circulating about their engagement and plans for an intimate wedding.

Chung posed in a variety of outfits for the magazine spread, including sheer lingerie, a turquoise and lilac swimsuit, and a red T-shirt dress.

Previously, Chung had expressed ambivalence towards marriage. In a 2018 interview, she questioned the significance of marriage, stating she did not necessarily need "a wedding day per se."

Chung and Sturridge, 40, first became public as a couple in July 2022, photographed kissing at Wimbledon. Sturridge was previously engaged to actress Sienna Miller, with whom he shares a daughter, Marlowe, 14. The relationship between Sturridge, Miller, and Chung has been described as amicable, with Miller referring to Chung as her daughter's "stepmum" in a recent interview.

Chung's past relationships include four-year engagements with Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys and actor Alexander Skarsgård.
