Alexa Chung Confirms Engagement to Tom Sturridge, Reveals 'Haunted' Tudor Ring

Alexa Chung recently confirmed her engagement to actor Tom Sturridge, sharing a lighthearted selfie that showcased her distinctive engagement ring. The model and television presenter, 42, revealed that Sturridge, 40, proposed with a Tudor-era ring, which she described as a "haunted" piece.

In an interview with More Or Less Magazine, Chung explained the significance of the ring, noting its table-cut diamond and resemblance to jewelry worn by figures from the court of Henry VIII, including Anne Boleyn. "When I went to the National Portrait Gallery and looked at images of Anne Boleyn and all the other people who perished at the hands of Henry VIII, a lot of them had these rings on," she remarked.

Chung recounted an amusing incident where her hairstylist, upon seeing the ring, playfully suggested it was haunted. "He took it off my finger and started making wishes around it and blowing on it. So I hope that my ring isn't haunted. Or do I? Because that's iconic," she said.

This marks the first public confirmation of the engagement, which first sparked rumors in June 2023 when Chung was seen wearing a ring at a 40th birthday celebration. Further speculation arose in 2024 after she was photographed wearing a ring during Paris Fashion Week.

Chung and Sturridge made their relationship public in July 2022, with their first photographs together at Wimbledon occurring behind Sienna Miller and her partner Oli Green. Notably, the four were later seen sharing a group selfie in the stands. Sturridge and Miller were previously engaged from 2011 to 2015, during which they had a daughter, Marlowe, born in 2012. They have maintained a close co-parenting relationship.

Chung's past relationships include a four-year romance with Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner and a relationship with actor Alexander Skarsgard. She also dated musician Orson Fry.
