Actress Gabrielle Creevy Embraces Welsh Roots in New Spy Thriller

Award-winning actress Gabrielle Creevy has shared her enthusiasm for portraying a "very Welsh assassin" in the upcoming season of the Netflix spy thriller, Black Doves. Creevy, who plays the character Eleanor, stars alongside notable actors Keira Knightley, Sarah Lancashire, and Ben Whishaw.

The Port Talbot-born actress revealed in an interview on BBC Radio Wales that she initially auditioned with her natural Welsh accent. "They kind of loved it," Creevy stated, leading the show's writer, Joe Barton, to incorporate additional Welsh elements into her character. "I'm kind of thrilled that they went with it because as a kid growing up and watching things, there was never that, there was never the Welsh accent."

Creevy noted that after her audition, Barton adapted the dialogue to better suit her, and further details related to Bridgend were added. "It was very refreshing to be that Welsh," she said, expressing her fondness for Wales and the opportunity to represent it. She also mentioned that it was positive for her castmate Ella Lily Hyland to utilize her Irish accent in the series.

Working with experienced actors was a significant experience for Creevy. She described the opportunity to observe them as "like a masterclass."
