Tropical Storm Isaias Forecast to Strengthen into Hurricane, Make Landfall Friday

Tropical Storm Isaias is expected to rapidly intensify over the next 24 to 48 hours and make landfall on Friday as a hurricane, according to forecasts. As of Wednesday morning, the storm was situated approximately 580 miles south of the Mississippi River.

Forecasters anticipate Isaias could become the first hurricane of the Atlantic season on Thursday, marking the latest occurrence of the season's first hurricane on record. Residents along the Gulf Coast, from New Orleans to Pensacola, may experience tropical-storm-force winds and rain by Friday morning.
