Regions in the United Kingdom are anticipating increased visitor numbers due to a partial solar eclipse, local tourism officials have stated. While a significant surge in accommodation bookings has not been reported, the event is expected to boost footfall in key tourist areas.

In Plymouth, the eclipse coincides with the British Firework Championships. Sarah Gibson, chief executive of Plymouth Waterfront Partnership, noted that the combination of sunny weather, the fireworks, and the eclipse is likely to attract large crowds to the city's waterfront. Plymouth Sound is considered a prime location for viewing the eclipse, further contributing to anticipated visitor numbers.

Cornwall is also preparing for an influx of interest, with several viewing parties organized. Businesses in the county are expecting heightened public engagement with the eclipse. The town of Falmouth is set to host a free air display event over Falmouth Bay, featuring three teams, shortly before the eclipse reaches its peak. Additionally, viewing events are planned at Perranporth Beach and other locations across the county.

Authorities are reminding the public to follow safety guidelines when observing the eclipse.
