Heavy rainfall and a King Tide have swamped parts of Florida, leading to unusual sights, including a suspected shark being filmed navigating flooded streets in Fort Pierce. The video, captured by resident Franshara Napoleon, shows the marine creature moving through the standing water at an intersection.
Napoleon was reportedly on her way to pick up her daughter when she noticed movement in the water and began recording. "I was in disbelief," she stated about the encounter. Fort Pierce, a coastal city, is approximately three miles from the intracoastal waterway. While sharks are native to the area, the shark's presence on an inland street raises questions about its journey, potentially via the nearby St. Lucie River.
Some speculation suggests the animal might have been a large tarpon, which are known to inhabit brackish waters and could more plausibly be found further inland. Regardless of the exact species, the event occurred amidst widespread flooding across Florida, with multiple vehicles stranded in inundated roadways in areas like West Melbourne. The excessive rain has transformed normally dry streets into temporary waterways.
