A rare Kemp's ridley sea turtle, discovered far from its usual habitat on a beach in Wales, has been successfully returned to its native waters in the Caribbean Sea. The turtle, named Rhossi, was found washed ashore in Pembrokeshire, Wales, an area where the species is not indigenous.

After its discovery, Rhossi received care and was deemed healthy enough for transport. The journey back to the Caribbean involved a flight from Houston, Texas, facilitated to ensure the turtle's safe return. Kemp's ridley sea turtles are native to the Gulf of Mexico and are one of the most endangered species of sea turtles in the world. Their typical range does not extend to the coast of Wales, making Rhossi's appearance there a significant anomaly.

The successful repatriation highlights efforts to protect and conserve endangered marine life. The exact reasons for Rhossi's unusual journey remain unclear, but such events can sometimes be linked to strong ocean currents or storms that can carry sea creatures off course.
