Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service has declared a major incident due to a significant fire on Dunwich Heath in Suffolk. Seventeen fire crews are currently on the scene battling the blaze, utilizing specialized equipment including off-road vehicles, drones, and quad bikes.

The affected area is largely a nature reserve managed by the National Trust, which is providing assistance to the firefighters. The site is also situated near the RSPB Minsmere nature reserve. Authorities have advised the public to avoid Westleton Heath, Mount Pleasant, Westleton Walks, and the main bridleway leading from the entrance road towards Dunwich.

Mobilization of emergency services has led to calls for the public to keep roads clear for emergency vehicles. This incident occurs as the UK Health Security Agency has issued an amber heat-health alert for several regions, including the East Midlands, East Anglia, Southeast England, and London, indicating a risk to health due to high temperatures.
