Authorities in Nepal are urging villagers to move to safer locations following a significant flood in a central river, triggered by a dry landslide. The floodwaters, laden with debris, have swept away several houses and pieces of infrastructure.
The incident occurred after a dry landslide in Chumnubri village, located in the Gorkha district approximately 62 miles west of Kathmandu, blocked the Budhi Gandaki River. This blockage led to the subsequent downstream flooding.
While footage captured the dramatic moment the floodwaters surged through the river, officials reported no casualties as of Sunday. The evacuation orders are a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of residents in the affected areas.
