Zach John King Cancels Shows Following Father's Sudden Death
Country music star Zach John King has postponed two weeks of concerts after announcing the sudden death of his father, John King.
Country music star Zach John King has canceled two weeks of upcoming concerts following the sudden death of his father. The 29-year-old artist shared the news on Instagram Tuesday, announcing that his father, John King, passed away on Friday.
"Friday my dad suddenly went home to Jesus," King wrote in a post that included a series of photos of himself with his father. "He was our family’s rock. My best friend. The greatest man I will ever know."
King described his father as a man of deep faith who maintained a joyful outlook even in difficult times. "In his own words, that joy came from ‘the hope I have in Jesus,’" King wrote. He added that he and his family wished they had more time with his father but found solace in his spiritual beliefs.
"I am canceling the next two weeks of shows to grieve with my family," King stated. "After that, Imma do what my dad would want me to do and get back to work."
Friends and fellow artists offered condolences on social media. "I’m sorry Zach… praying for you and your family," commented singer Ella Langley. "Wow man I’m so so sorry. I know you’ve got an army around you but you also have the Lake’s lifting yall up as well. What a beautiful thing to be able to say of your dad. Leaving a legacy," wrote Christian songwriter Brandon Lake.
King had been touring with artists including Morgan Wallen, Luke Bryan, Riley Green, and Thomas Rhett over the summer. He was also preparing for his fall "Get to Drinkin' Tour."
This is not the first time a country artist has canceled performances due to personal circumstances. Last year, Cody Johnson postponed the remainder of his 2025 tour dates after requiring surgery for a ruptured eardrum. Johnson cited a severe upper respiratory and sinus infection that led to the injury, stating that the healing process would prevent him from singing for several weeks.
