Whole Foods Market Opens New 43,000-Square-Foot Store in Elk Grove, California

Whole Foods Market has opened a new 43,000-square-foot store in Elk Grove, California, its fourth location in the Sacramento area. The Amazon-owned supermarket, located at 8100 Elk Grove Blvd., began welcoming customers on September 16.

This new store marks the 94th Whole Foods Market to open in California. The selection at the Elk Grove location includes more than 1,500 local items from California-based suppliers, curated with the help of Patrick Wyman, Forager for Local & Emerging Brands at Whole Foods Market. Shoppers will find products from local producers such as Nicasio Valley Cheese, Adante Dairy, and Charles Chocolates at the store's cheese counter, which is staffed by trained cheesemongers offering recommendations.

The produce section features offerings from over 200 California suppliers, including Durst Organic Growers, Full Belly Farm, and Coke Farm. The seafood counter provides what the company describes as expert fishmonger service with sustainably sourced wild-caught or responsibly farmed items. A full-service meat counter offers house-made sausages and marinated meats, alongside items from local suppliers.

Customers can also find baked goods and a prepared foods section with options like pizza by the slice, hot food items, and salad bars. For the grand opening, the first 300 customers received a limited-edition tote bag and a coupon for up to $100 off.

Founded in 1980, Whole Foods Market operates more than 500 stores across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
