Virgin Australia Offers 30% Discount on Economy X Upgrades
Passengers can secure perks like priority boarding and extra legroom for less until July 9.
Virgin Australia is offering travelers a 30% discount on upgrades to its Economy X seating option. The promotion allows passengers to experience enhanced travel benefits, such as priority boarding, increased legroom, and preferred seating, at a reduced cost. This offer is valid for new and existing bookings made through July 9.
Economy X provides several advantages over standard economy seating. These include priority boarding, guaranteed overhead locker space, an additional carry-on allowance of 14kg, and up to 40% more legroom compared to regular economy seats. The airline states that these upgrades offer a way to achieve "VIP treatment on an economy budget."
The Economy X upgrade is available on all domestic and short-haul international flights operated by Virgin Australia. Travelers can select the upgrade during the booking process on the seat selection page, or add it to existing reservations via the "manage my booking" section on the airline's website. Upgrades can also be arranged by contacting Virgin Australia's Guest Contact Centre or potentially at the airport check-in, subject to availability.
According to the airline, the discounted upgrade price can significantly reduce the cost of enhanced seating. For example, a flight from Sydney to the Gold Coast in August could see an upgrade cost as low as approximately $8 after the discount for an exit row seat. International upgrades are also affected, with a Sydney to Fiji flight in September costing around $53 with the promotion.
In addition to the Economy X promotion, Virgin Australia is also running a separate sale on flights to the Northern Territory, with discounts of up to 25% on certain routes. This sale is scheduled to end on June 28. Specific examples include flights to Alice Springs starting from $125 one-way in Economy Lite, or $145 for Economy Choice. Flights to Darwin start from $159 one-way in Economy Lite.
