The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, renowned for its opulent interiors and scenic European routes, is expanding its offerings with a new itinerary that includes a maiden voyage to Monte Carlo in 2027. This addition will bring the train's signature glamour to Monaco.

On May 10, 2027, the train will embark on a journey from Paris along the Côte d'Azur, featuring a highly anticipated stop in Monte Carlo. The route traverses the striking red cliffs of the Massif de l'Estérel, passing Saint-Raphaël before continuing towards Cannes and Nice. Passengers will experience sweeping vistas of the French Riviera's glittering coastline and sun-drenched landscapes.

As the train approaches Monaco, the track winds into the mountainside, offering spectacular views before the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express arrives at Monaco–Monte-Carlo station.

Pascal Deyrolle, area managing director for Trains – Continental Europe, stated that Monaco has long been a significant destination in European travel, attracting visitors with its unique style and culture. "Introducing the destination feels like a natural continuation for the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, bringing the romance of luxury rail travel to a locale that has always understood the art of arrival," Deyrolle commented. He also noted the historical significance of Monte Carlo for the train, as two original carriages were acquired there at auction in 1977, a pivotal moment in the development of the modern Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.

Passengers aboard the train will travel in the classic midnight blue carriages, with options for historic cabins, suites, and grand suites, all decorated in Art Deco style. For a more exclusive experience, L'Observatoire carriage is available for private booking, featuring a bedroom, en suite bathroom with a freestanding bathtub, a living area, library, and a tearoom. Passengers can enjoy breath-taking views whilst being treated to top-quality service on board

During the journey, guests can dine in one of the two restaurant cars, Étoile du Nord or L’Oriental, followed by cocktails and live piano music at the Bar Car ‘3674’. Breakfast includes fresh pastries, pressed fruit juices, tea, and coffee.

The new route is scheduled to become an annual fixture on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express's calendar. Prices for the Paris to Monte Carlo – Monaco route start from €4,870 (£4,114) per person, based on two guests sharing a historic cabin. This fare includes an overnight stay, 24-hour steward service, all meals with selected wines, unlimited soft drinks, and transfers. The new route launches on May 10, 2027, when the train will depart from Paris
