UK Flights Disrupted by Technical Issue
A technical problem at NATS's Prestwick center is causing delays and cancellations for flights in and out of Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern England.
Flights in and out of Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the north of England experienced disruption on Monday due to a technical issue. The problem occurred at the Prestwick center in Scotland, operated by NATS (formerly National Air Traffic Services).
Engineers were investigating the issue, and while airports south of Manchester, including those in London, were largely unaffected, flights heading north or departing from Scottish airports faced delays. NATS confirmed the disruption was separate from a software glitch that caused over 2,000 flight cancellations in the UK two weeks prior.
EasyJet commented on the latest disruption, stating it "once again, calls into question the resilience of NATSs’ systems and demonstrates the need for firm actions to prevent these repeated failures."
