Twisties Launches Limited Edition Hot Chilli Honey Flavor Amidst High Consumer Demand

Supermarkets are anticipating a surge in customer activity following the release of Twisties' latest limited-edition flavor, a collaboration with Capilano Hot Chilli Honey. The new snack, priced at $2.70, began rolling out on June 29 at IGA and independent grocers, with wider distribution to Coles and Woolworths scheduled for August.

The flavor partnership aims to capitalize on the popularity of Capilano's Hot Chilli Honey, which experienced a nationwide sellout last year after being featured in a viral TikTok recipe. The condiment's success is compared to the Sriracha frenzy of 2010, marking a significant moment for condiment-driven trends.

Twisties Marketing Manager Michelle Sonnleitner stated that the new flavor builds on the success of previous spicy offerings and addresses consumer interest in heat. "Australians are embracing sweet-and-spicy flavors like never before, and Capilano Hot Chilli Honey has been a big part of that trend," said Skye Giles, Capilano's Senior Brand Manager. "We're thrilled to partner with Twisties to bring this flavor combination to an iconic Australian snack."

Early consumer reactions suggest a balanced taste profile, with some noting a prominent honey sweetness alongside a developing heat. "They have some honey flavor. They're like sweet and spicy at the same time," one early taste tester commented. Another reported, "I can feel the spice. It's like three seconds after the bite, there's some heat."

This launch aligns with a growing consumer preference for "swicy" (sweet and spicy) combinations. A recent study commissioned by Twisties indicates that 37 percent of Australians favor hot and spicy flavors, while 28 percent are reportedly obsessed with the sweet-and-spicy combination. This trend was further highlighted by the success of Capilano's Hot Chilli Honey when it was a key ingredient in the viral "Healthy Girl Bowl" recipe.

The Twisties Hot Chilli Honey follows other recent limited editions, including Tangy Pickle and the more divisive Zooper Dooper Fairy Floss and Sour Blueberry flavors. The brand anticipates strong demand for this latest offering, driven by the established popularity of its partner condiment and the prevailing consumer appetite for adventurous flavor profiles.
