Travelodge Guest Endures Bed Bug Infestation During One-Night Stay

Hannah Stephenson, a 31-year-old from Bassingbourn, is still experiencing physical discomfort and visible marks 13 days after a one-night stay at a Travelodge hotel in Cambridge. Stephenson had booked the accommodation on July 26 as an alternative to a late-night taxi after spending time with friends.

Upon waking the following morning, Stephenson discovered what she described as "horrible realization": itchy red lumps covering her body and blood stains on the bedding, indicative of a bed bug infestation. "It wasn't until I saw the blood and the bugs that I realized what had happened," she stated.

A spokesperson for Travelodge issued an apology, stating, "We are deeply sorry for Ms. Stephenson's experience and how distressing an incident like this can be."

Stephenson recounted that the incident marred an otherwise pleasant evening. "It was just a lovely wholesome time of Cambridge sightseeing and pubs, and now it is tarnished by these bedbug bites," she said. The bites have reportedly left her feeling self-conscious and embarrassed.

She is looking directly at the camera and is wearing a black short-sleeved T-shirt. On the right is a picture of her arm, which has red raised bites all over it, which she believes to be from bed bugs.
