Trader Joe's Set to Open New Store in Anaheim Hills
The popular grocery chain will occupy a former Big Lots space, continuing its national expansion.
Trader Joe's has confirmed it will open a new store in Anaheim Hills, California, taking over a former Big Lots location at 6336 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road within the Anaheim Hills Village shopping center. The location has been updated on the Trader Joe's website to indicate it is "coming soon," following months of local speculation and reports that the grocery chain had secured permits for the site about a year ago.
While an official opening date has not yet been announced, the company stated on its website that its "crew is working hard so we can open our doors." This new store is part of a larger national expansion strategy for Trader Joe's, which plans to open approximately 20 new stores across the country in 2026. This follows a significant expansion in 2025, during which 43 new locations were opened nationwide.
The expansion of Trader Joe's comes as other major food retailers are reportedly scaling back operations. The company is known for its unique product offerings and budget-friendly prices. The arrival of a Trader Joe's store can also have an economic impact on its surrounding area, with properties in close proximity sometimes experiencing an increase in real estate value, an effect sometimes referred to as the "Trader Joe's Effect."
