Trader Joe's Plans 30 New Stores in 16 States

Trader Joe's is set to expand its presence with 30 new store openings planned across 16 states. Two of these new locations, in Anaheim Hills, California, and West Jordan, Utah, are scheduled to open this week. The remaining 28 stores are listed as "coming soon" by the grocery chain.

A spokesperson for Trader Joe's indicated that new store locations are typically added to the company's announcements three to six months before their planned opening dates. Among the future locations, three stores in Bend, Oregon; Boynton Beach, Florida; and Phoenix are anticipated to open in 2027.

Illinois is slated to receive the most new Trader Joe's locations, with four stores planned for Oswego, Chicago, and Joliet. California, Florida, and Texas will each gain three new stores. Arizona, New Jersey, New York, and Washington are each expected to open two new locations. Colorado, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio, and Oregon will each have one new store.

Trader Joe's currently operates approximately 660 stores nationwide. The company stated that it continuously evaluates hundreds of neighborhoods for potential new stores, aiming to bring its products to more customers each year. The expansion strategy focuses on real estate availability and supply chain efficiency, which the company believes helps maintain lower prices and its distinctive in-store experience.

The grocery chain, founded in 1967 in Pasadena, California, has cultivated a following for its private-label products, ranging from seasonal items like pumpkin-flavored cookies to skincare products. The brand has also recently seen viral success with its affordable mini canvas tote bags.
