SpaceX has initiated public trading, with founder Elon Musk marking the event by stating the company once had "less than a 10% chance of succeeding at all." The aerospace manufacturer is now going public with what Musk described as "the largest IPO ever."
Ceremonial bell-ringing events to signify the start of trading were held simultaneously at Nasdaq headquarters in New York City and at SpaceX's headquarters in southern Texas.
Musk made his remarks prior to the official commencement of trading on the US stock exchange from the Texas location. SpaceX was founded in 2002 with the goal of reducing space transportation costs to enable the colonization of Mars.
