Southwest Airlines Adds 11 New International Flight Routes
The budget airline is expanding its tropical destinations starting in November, offering new nonstop service from several U.S. cities.
Southwest Airlines is set to launch 11 new nonstop international routes, expanding its offerings to various tropical destinations starting in November. The expansion includes new service from Las Vegas, Nashville, Austin, Columbus, and Pittsburgh.
Beginning November 1, travelers can fly nonstop from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas to Puerto Vallarta. Southwest Airlines currently operates over 40% of flights out of Las Vegas.
In February 2027, Nashville International Airport will gain nonstop service to Liberia, followed by flights to Aruba in March. Demand for travel to Liberia has reportedly increased, though a Level 2 travel advisory remains in effect from the U.S. Department of State, which also requires a visa for all U.S. citizens visiting the country, regardless of trip duration.
In June, Nashville will also see new nonstop service to Nassau, Bahamas, and Providenciales. Southwest will be the sole carrier offering direct flights for these four Nashville-based routes.
Additionally, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport will introduce four new international routes in June, including service to San José, Costa Rica, starting in March. Flights to Liberia and Punta Cana will also begin in June from Austin.
New nonstop flights from Columbus and Pittsburgh to Punta Cana are scheduled to begin in March and June, respectively. Southwest Airlines, founded in 1971, is recognized as the world's largest low-cost carrier based on fleet size and passenger volume.
