Social Media Fuels Coca-Cola Freestyle Recipe Craze

Coca-Cola enthusiasts are using the brand's Freestyle machines to craft unique soda combinations, with a particular focus on recreating a discontinued "Internet's Favorite Mix" flavor known as CherryBaby101. This trend has gained significant traction on social media platforms, prompting engagement from Coca-Cola itself.

The DIY formula for CherryBaby101, widely shared online, involves mixing equal parts Cherry Sprite, Vanilla Sprite, and Grape Fanta. Fans report that this combination closely resembles the original flavor, which was part of a limited-edition collection for Freestyle machines and is no longer offered.

Coca-Cola's official social media account has acknowledged the trend, giving a shoutout to the "Internet's Favorite Mix" collection. AMC Theatres, which features Coca-Cola Freestyle machines in its locations, has also commented on the social media buzz, indicating its participation in customer experimentation.

The creativity extends beyond recreating old favorites. Users are sharing a variety of "secret menu" creations, often discovered at fast-food chains like Wendy's, which also utilize Coca-Cola Freestyle machines. Examples include a mix of Cherry Sprite and Orange Coke, or Peach Sprite, which one user described as their favorite. Wendy's also offers exclusive flavors like Dave's Cherry Cream Soda, and some users experiment with combining Hi-C flavors.

These user-generated recipes are reminiscent of other recent social media food trends, such as the "Kool-Aid Pineapple" and "Fluffy Coke" concoctions. Singer Dua Lipa also shared an unconventional Diet Coke recipe involving pickle juice and jalapenos, which garnered attention and even prompted celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay to try it.

Coca-Cola has a history of releasing limited edition flavors on its Freestyle machines. The company is also developing a new, smaller version of the machine, the Freestyle Mini.
