Singapore Airlines has announced a significant cabin renovation, costing £1.2 billion, which includes the introduction of what it claims is the largest double bed in commercial aviation. This enhanced first-class feature measures 80 inches (203 cm) by 60 inches (152 cm), surpassing the dimensions of a standard UK king-size mattress.
The airline unveiled these upgrades on Friday, which encompass all four travel classes and represent the most extensive overhaul in its history. Passengers will be able to experience the new cabins starting in the latter half of 2027.
Enhancements Across Cabin Classes
Beyond the first-class double bed, business class is set to receive sliding privacy doors and fully flat beds. The airline is also upgrading its KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system, featuring 4K high-resolution touchscreens, OLED displays on select aircraft, spatial audio, and Bluetooth connectivity for personal headphones. Passengers will have access to over 2,500 entertainment options.
High-speed internet connectivity powered by Starlink will also be available on equipped aircraft, allowing passengers to stream content, communicate with others, and work remotely.
New Dining and Ground Services
The renovation also includes over 100 new and refreshed dishes across all cabin classes. Menu highlights range from Fusion Harmony Rojak in economy class to prawn cocktails and poached Maine lobster with champagne sauce in premium cabins. Meals in suites, first class, and business class will be served on custom tableware designed in collaboration with French luxury brand Christofle.
On the ground, Singapore Airlines has refreshed its SilverKris lounges globally, including at its hub in Singapore Changi Airport. First-class and Suites customers at Changi Airport will benefit from personalized services such as priority immigration and security clearance, along with a dedicated concierge and buggy transfers.
