Sid Wilson Reportedly Out of Slipknot After Nearly 30 Years
The DJ and keyboard player's departure comes months after his split from fiancée Kelly Osbourne.
Sid Wilson, the DJ and keyboard player for the Grammy-winning heavy metal band Slipknot, has reportedly been removed from the group after nearly three decades. An insider close to the band shared the development with TMZ, though the specific reasons for Wilson's departure remain unclear.
Wilson, 49, joined Slipknot in early 1998, becoming the ninth member to join the band as it expanded to its now-iconic nine-member lineup. He was known for his distinctive gas-mask-inspired designs and energetic stage performances, which included crowd dives and climbing venue structures.
The departure follows a tumultuous year for Wilson personally. In March, he announced his separation from his fiancée, Kelly Osbourne. The couple, who share a three-year-old son named Sidney, had been engaged for seven months after Wilson proposed at Osbourne's late father's final concert with Black Sabbath. Sources close to Osbourne indicated that she had been struggling with grief and relationship challenges, ultimately deciding that separating was the best path forward.
Slipknot has experienced several lineup changes over the years. Bassist Paul Gray died in 2010, and original drummer Joey Jordison passed away in 2021. Percussionist Chris Fehn was dismissed in 2019, and keyboardist Craig Jones exited the band in 2023. If Wilson's departure is confirmed, only vocalist Corey Taylor, percussionist Shawn 'Clown' Crahan, and guitarists Mick Thomson and Jim Root would remain from the band's classic lineup.
