Shake Shack Rolls Out West Coast-Inspired Summer Menu
The fast-casual chain introduces new burgers, chicken sandwiches, and loaded fries, drawing inspiration from California's iconic burger culture.
Shake Shack is launching a new summer menu for 2026, featuring items inspired by the flavors of the West Coast, including a new burger, chicken sandwich, and loaded fries. The menu, available nationwide starting July 14 for a limited time, includes offerings that echo the style of California-based burger joints.
The centerpiece of the new offerings is the West Coast Burger, a quarter-pound Angus beef patty topped with American cheese, caramelized onions, and honey mustard pickles. It is finished with a new "Secret Sauce," described as having more bite than Shake Shack's signature ShackSauce due to added white onion and chili, providing a creamy texture. The accompanying pickles offer a sour and spicy contrast.
Complementing the burger is the West Coast Chicken Sandwich, which features the chain's fried chicken breast, avocado, lettuce, and tomato on a toasted potato bun. This sandwich is dressed with a Sour Cream & Onion Sauce, said to resemble a creamy French onion dip.
The chain is also reintroducing the Big Shack, a burger first launched in November 2025. This item, which features two quarter-pound Angus beef patties, secret sauce, lettuce, American cheese, pickles, onions, and tomatoes on a potato bun with an extra bun in the middle, was designed to be a larger, bolder offering.
Shake Shack's West Coast Loaded Fries aim to emulate the style of popular "Animal-Style" fries from a California competitor. They are topped with melted cheddar and American cheese, caramelized onions, and the new Secret Sauce. The chain's original caramelized onions were first offered as a regional exclusive in the Los Angeles area, serving as a foundation for the development of this new menu.
Additionally, the summer menu includes spicy crinkle-cut fries seasoned with a blend of cayenne, garlic, and paprika, with options to add cheese sauce or ranch for dipping. These are available alongside other fan favorites such as the SmokeShack and the Avocado Bacon Burger.
Shake Shack began as a hot dog cart in New York City and has since expanded to over 425 U.S. locations. The new West Coast-inspired menu will be available with the exception of locations within stadiums, racetracks, roadways, and airports.
