Ryanair Passengers Stranded 15 Hours in Krakow, Offered Insufficient Meal Vouchers

Around 150 passengers on a Ryanair flight from Krakow to Liverpool experienced a delay exceeding 15 hours due to a technical issue that required a replacement aircraft. Flight FR6359, originally scheduled to depart at 8:55 a.m. on Monday, did not take off until 12:40 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4.

The stranded passengers were provided with refreshment vouchers valued at approximately £3.38 (17.00 PLN) per boarding pass. However, reports indicate that this amount was insufficient to cover the cost of a coffee at the airport, which was priced at 21 PLN (£4.17).

Passengers reported a lack of direct communication and available staff to address their concerns. One passenger, Marcin Tkaczyk, 47, from Lancaster, described the situation as "upsetting." He explained that leaving the departure gate would have necessitated going through security procedures again, making it impractical given the limited amenities around the airport.

The flight eventually landed in Liverpool at 2 a.m. on Tuesday, significantly later than its scheduled arrival time of 10:40 a.m. the previous day. Many passengers, including families with children, had to manage the extended wait with personal devices. The airline's communication stated that the vouchers were to be used at participating outlets and could not be redeemed on board the aircraft.
