Robert Downey Jr. Set to Earn $100 Million for Upcoming Marvel Films
The actor's salary for 'Avengers: Doomsday' and 'Avengers: Secret Wars' reportedly surpasses that of his co-stars.
Robert Downey Jr. is slated to earn $100 million for his involvement in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films "Avengers: Doomsday" and "Avengers: Secret Wars." This figure reportedly makes him the highest-paid actor among the "Avengers" cast for these two concurrent productions. "Avengers: Doomsday" is scheduled for release on December 18, with "Avengers: Secret Wars" following next year.
Sources suggest Downey's substantial payday may extend beyond his roles in these two films, potentially including a cameo in another Marvel project. Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans are reported to be the next highest earners, with each negotiating approximately $40 million for their roles in the two "Avengers" movies.
Together, Downey, Hemsworth, and Evans are expected to account for about 30 percent of the combined $600 million budget for "Doomsday" and "Secret Wars." The films are being shot back-to-back.
Downey, who reprised his role as Tony Stark in multiple MCU films, has previously been the highest-paid member of the cast. Over the course of his tenure, he has earned more than $500 million across four "Avengers" movies, three "Iron Man" films, a supporting role in "Captain America: Civil War," and additional cameos.
While other cast members, including Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, and Simu Liu, are also part of the "mega-wattage" ensemble, their salaries are not expected to reach the levels of Downey, Hemsworth, or Evans.
Disney and Marvel have declined to comment on the salary reports, and representatives for Downey, Hemsworth, and Evans have not responded to requests for comment. Downey is set to portray Doctor Doom in "Avengers: Secret Wars."
