Regus Founder Mark Dixon Steps Down as CEO After 40 Years
Mark Dixon, the founder of International Workplace Group (IWG), will transition from CEO to executive chairman after nearly four decades leading the global office space provider.
Mark Dixon, the visionary entrepreneur behind the Regus office space empire, is stepping back from his role as chief executive of International Workplace Group (IWG), the company he founded in 1989. The announcement marks the end of an almost 40-year tenure leading the firm, now valued at £1.8 billion.
Dixon, 66, will assume the position of executive chairman, where he will continue to offer strategic direction to the board and serve as an advisor to the incoming chief executive, Christian Schmitz. Schmitz joined IWG last year as chief transformation officer.
IWG, which operates under brands including Regus, boasts over 4,000 locations worldwide, serving more than 8 million people across more than 120 countries. Dixon established the company in Brussels, inspired by observing local business professionals frequently conducting meetings in coffee shops.
Dixon's departure from the day-to-day CEO role signifies a major leadership shift for the global flexible workspace provider.
