Plus500 Reports Highest First-Half Revenues in Three Years Fueled by Prediction Markets and World Cup
The online trading platform saw a significant boost in revenue and customer income, driven by its expansion into prediction markets.
Plus500 has achieved its highest first-half revenues in three years, reporting a 12 percent increase to £343 million for the six months ending June 30. This surge in performance is largely attributed to the company's strategic move into the rapidly growing prediction markets sector, which allows clients to wager on the outcomes of real-world events.
The company expanded its offerings to include sports prediction markets at the end of June, coinciding with the full swing of the World Cup. This timing proved beneficial, contributing to the overall revenue growth. Customer income also reached a five-year high, climbing 24 percent year-on-year.
Pre-tax profit saw a modest increase, rising to £135.8 million from £134.7 million in the same period last year. Plus500 views the prediction markets sector as a key driver for future growth.
