Oura Postpones IPO Amid Market Uncertainty

Smart ring maker Oura Inc. has postponed its planned initial public offering, citing market "uncertainty" despite what it described as strong demand. The company announced the delay in a press release on Tuesday.

The IPO market experienced a strong start to the year but saw a slowdown in the third quarter, according to research firm Renaissance Capital. Factors contributing to this shift include concerns over a potential slowdown in artificial intelligence spending, the Federal Reserve's resumption of interest rate hikes, and a rise in bond yields, which increases borrowing costs.

Oura's smart rings are used by customers to monitor various health metrics, including sleep patterns and fitness activity. The company generates most of its revenue from direct ring sales, with a smaller portion coming from subscription services.

Despite the market headwinds, Oura had been demonstrating positive momentum. The recent introduction of the Oura Ring 5 reportedly boosted the number of paid members to 5.7 million. The company also anticipates that its revenue for the fiscal year ending Wednesday will have grown by 90%.
