Omeros Bros Seafood Dynasty Collapses Amidst Bitter Father-Son Dispute
The iconic Gold Coast restaurant faces liquidation following a protracted legal battle and significant financial liabilities.
The Omeros Bros seafood restaurant, a long-standing fixture on the Gold Coast, has been wound up by the tax office after a bitter family feud culminated in court action between father and son. The collapse follows claims of more than $2 million in liabilities, signaling the end of a prominent family-run dining dynasty.
The dispute pitted Nick Omeros against his son, Johnny Omeros. In May, Nick launched Supreme Court proceedings, accusing his son of operating behind his back and opening a new venue, Johnny Omeros, on Capri. This legal action underscored the deep divisions that had fractured the family's business.
The Omeros name has long been associated with the Gold Coast's dining scene. The original brothers, Nick and Angelo, established the business, with Angelo's passing in 2006 leading to Johnny Omeros joining the operation. IMAGE1

In January, the restaurant was compelled to leave its long-term location at Marina Mirage. This move was necessitated by a $500 million redevelopment project planned for the waterfront dining and retail area. IMAGE2
Despite the challenges, the restaurant had remained a notable venue, even hosting significant events such as the engagement of Miss Australia hopeful Holly MacAlpine in December, shortly before its closure. IMAGE3
