Olympian-Founded Activewear Line Sells Out Following Rave Reviews
Earthletica, co-founded by Olympic swimmer Bronte Campbell, sees leggings become a bestseller due to comfort, flattering fit, and sustainable practices.
The Midnight Pocket Tight from Australian activewear brand Earthletica has become a bestseller, with the brand reporting significant sell-outs shortly after its launch. The leggings, co-founded by three-time Olympic gold medallist Bronte Campbell, are being praised by shoppers for their comfort, flattering fit, and sustainable material.
Customers have described the high-waisted, full-length leggings as "buttery soft," "super comfy," and fitting "like a glove." The design features a no-front-seam for comfort and two deep side pockets. The fabric, Earthletica's signature BodySculpt recycled material, is engineered without harsh chemical treatments commonly found in performance activewear. It is noted for being sweat-wicking, breathable, quick-drying, and compressive, sculpting and supporting the body.
Campbell, who retired from competitive swimming in June to focus on her activewear brand, founded Earthletica with personal trainer Libby Babet and lawyer Chris Raleigh. The brand aims to create high-performance activewear without relying on the toxic chemicals, often referred to as 'forever chemicals' like PFAS, typically used for sweat-wicking and quick-drying properties in the industry. The textile industry is a significant source of plastic waste, with most activewear made from virgin plastic that can take hundreds of years to degrade in landfills.
Earthletica's commitment to sustainability extends to its manufacturing processes. The brand is a certified B Corp, and its fabrics are tested against over 1,000 harmful chemicals under OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Product Class I certification, the strictest available standard, also used for baby wear. The brand's tights, shorts, and crops are made from 75 percent recycled materials, including fishing nets and fabric scraps, while outerwear is made from 100 percent natural materials.
Research has raised concerns about the potential health implications of chemicals leaching from synthetic activewear into the skin during exercise. Studies have linked exposure to chemicals like phthalates and PFAS to endocrine disruption and reduced fertility. Earthletica's founders stated their goal was to create products that consumers would not have to compromise on function or comfort to achieve sustainability.
Other popular items from the Earthletica range include the Studio Tight, the Split Crop, the Double Crop, and the Support Tank. The brand reports a 50 percent repeat purchase rate and is currently working on expanding its size inclusivity and developing a menswear line.
