Napa Valley's Signorello Estate Winery Faces Foreclosure, Public Auction

Signorello Estate Winery, a prominent Napa Valley establishment, is facing foreclosure proceedings that could result in a public auction of its assets, including vineyards, buildings, and wine inventory. The foreclosure actions are linked to over $37 million in unpaid construction loans.

Two trustee sales are scheduled for August 21, with one seeking to recover $30.9 million and another targeting $6.8 million. These loans were reportedly taken out by entities associated with Raymond Edward Signorello Jr. following a significant rebuilding effort after the 2017 Atlas fire. The fire devastated the estate in October 2017, destroying the family home, hospitality center, and winery, though the vineyards were spared. The winery had reopened just two years prior to these new foreclosure filings.

The foreclosure encompasses not only the land but also the winery's wine inventory, vineyards, buildings, trademarks, and equipment. The sales are scheduled to take place outside the Napa County Superior Court.

However, the outcome remains uncertain, as such sales can be postponed or canceled if parties reach a different agreement. This situation adds to the challenges facing the broader wine industry, which is navigating shifts in alcohol consumption trends among younger demographics. An August 2025 Gallup poll indicated that the number of American adults who consume alcohol has fallen to 54%.
