MUJI to Open Second Brooklyn Store in Downtown Brooklyn Development

Popular Japanese retail and lifestyle brand MUJI is set to open its second Brooklyn location at 100 Flatbush Ave. The new store, occupying 10,000 square feet, is part of a five-building development by Alloy Development.

This expansion places MUJI within the bustling Downtown Brooklyn corridor, an area experiencing significant commercial and residential growth. The development at 100 Flatbush Ave. is strategically located near Flatbush Avenue, Third Avenue, and State Street.

Alloy Development has also secured other retail tenants for the block, including the cafe-bakery Winner, founded by Michelin-star chef Daniel Eddy, which will occupy 2,726 square feet. Additionally, CardVault, associated with Tom Brady, will open a 973-square-foot space.

MUJI's existing Brooklyn store is located in Williamsburg. Richard Rappaport, president of Muji USA, stated that "Every new store is an investment in the communities we serve." He further noted that "Downtown Brooklyn’s continued growth, diversity and energy make it an ideal place for us to expand our presence."

The larger "Alloy Block" project encompasses multiple buildings, including a residential/retail tower at 505 State St. and another under construction at One Third Avenue. The completed development is planned to feature over 1,000 apartments, 60,000 square feet of office space, 30,000 square feet of retail, and two public schools.
