Morgan Unveils Ultra-Exclusive Midsummer Coupé
British carmaker produces just 10 of the bespoke models, each priced over £200,000, featuring a BMW engine and Pininfarina collaboration.
Morgan, the British bespoke carmaker, has unveiled its new ultra-exclusive Midsummer Coupé, released on the longest day of the year. This limited-edition model follows the Midsummer Speedster debuted last year.
Only 10 examples of the Midsummer Coupé will be produced, each featuring a glass roof and priced at over £200,000. The car's design is a collaboration with the design house Pininfarina, aiming for "dramatically different proportions, greater visual tension and a more resolved silhouette."
Under the hood, the Coupé is powered by a BMW turbocharged straight-six petrol engine producing 402 horsepower, which is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Despite its touring focus, which promises "year-round usability, luggage practicality and long-distance comfort," the car weighs approximately 1,200kg.
Morgan states the Midsummer Coupé shares its platform with the Supersport range. Significant structural development was undertaken to create its distinct shape and glass roof, including billet-machined aluminum A-pillars and bonded structural glazing. Unique features include polished stainless-steel panels along the lower bodywork, model-specific 19-inch aluminum wheels, and air vents in the front wings resembling those on a Spitfire.
Jonathan Wells, chief design officer at Morgan, described the project as "one of the most ambitious and rewarding." He added that the Midsummer Coupé demonstrates Morgan's current capabilities and opens possibilities for future "exceptional commissions, meaningful collaborations and some of the most ambitious projects in our history."
The concept for the Midsummer Coupé originated from a customer request. The first commission has been secured, with nine other bespoke builds available, each intended as a unique interpretation developed in collaboration with the owner. Final pricing for each vehicle will be determined by its bespoke build specifications, but will exceed a quarter of a million pounds.
