Mark Zuckerberg's $170 Million Florida Mansion Nears Completion

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan's $170 million mansion on Indian Creek Island in Florida is rapidly taking shape, with new aerial photos offering a detailed look at the nearly completed estate. The property, located in an exclusive enclave often referred to as the 'Billionaire Bunker,' is set to become one of South Florida's most extravagant residences.

The Meta CEO and his wife purchased the 1.8-acre lot for just under $200 million in March. The estate, designed by Ferris Rafauli, boasts 27,889 square feet and is envisioned with nine bedrooms and eleven bathrooms. Features visible in the construction progress include a dramatic limestone facade, a pavilion-like courtyard entrance, and a massive outdoor lounge area facing Biscayne Bay.

Interior renderings depict soaring ceilings, crystal chandeliers, a jazz lounge, a salon, a library accessible via a hidden passage, and a 1,500-gallon aquarium. The exterior is planned to include a lavish terrace with a lounge area, outdoor fire fixtures, and a 135-foot dock extending across 200 feet of private bay access. The construction, initially projected for completion by late 2026, is now expected to be ready by September 2027. The island itself is accessible only via a guarded bridge and is home to a small number of ultra-wealthy residents, including Jeff Bezos, Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner. The island maintains its own 13-person police force and 24-hour marine patrol.

Zuckerberg's acquisition of the Florida property comes amid discussions of a proposed 'Billionaire Tax Act' in California, which would impose a five percent tax on assets exceeding $1 billion. The bill, championed by Democratic Representative Ro Khanna, aims to fund essential services like healthcare and education. California currently has the highest number of billionaires of any U.S. state. Florida, in contrast, does not impose a state income tax. Zuckerberg, with an estimated net worth of $232 billion, also owns properties in Palo Alto, Kauai, and Lake Tahoe. His property developments in Palo Alto have previously drawn criticism from local residents. Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan attending the Met Gala.

The Indian Creek Island estate is situated between Biscayne Bay and the Indian Creek Country Club golf course. Each of the island's 41 waterfront homes is built to ensure residents have bay views. The island's central area features the private Indian Creek Country Club and an 18-hole golf course.
