Margot Robbie Linked to $28 Million Queensland Estate Purchase

Hollywood star Margot Robbie is reportedly the mystery buyer behind the acquisition of a sprawling hinterland estate in Queensland, Australia, for approximately $28 million. The property, known as Redwood, is located in Currumbin Valley, an area near where the actress grew up.

Sources familiar with the transaction suggest Robbie acquired the luxury acreage in an off-market deal. The sale, which was not publicly advertised, is believed to be one of the most significant residential property transactions ever recorded in Queensland. Industry insiders estimate the sale price to be between $27.5 million and $28 million. For context, this figure is slightly less than the officially recorded highest residential transaction in Queensland for 2025, which was a beachfront mansion on Mermaid Beach's 'Millionaires' Row'.

Property records indicate the estate changed hands in June of the previous year through a company named Pippyyork Pty Ltd. Company documents show that Pippyyork's sole director and shareholder is Gold Coast accountant David Hayes. However, company filings suggest Hayes holds the single share on behalf of an undisclosed party, widely understood to be Robbie. Pippyyork Pty Ltd was established as a $1 shelf company just weeks before the purchase.

Estate Details and Local Impact

The secluded 2.9-hectare property, situated on Currumbin Creek Road, features a six-bedroom, six-bathroom residence, extensive garaging for 10 vehicles, horse stables, a swimming pool, and a full-size tennis court. The estate was previously owned by Bridget Deer, wife of travel industry executive Randall Deer. Deer purchased the original property in 2017 for $2.55 million and subsequently oversaw a significant renovation of the ranch-style estate, with architecture by Paul Uhlmann Architects.

The reported sale has become a topic of discussion in Currumbin Valley. Locals have observed the recent installation of screening trees along the estate's boundary adjacent to Currumbin Creek, seemingly to enhance privacy. Local real estate agent Stephen Hay commented on the sale, noting its magnitude and the low-key nature of the transaction, which initially led to assumptions of a business-related deal.

Robbie, 36, has maintained strong ties to her native Queensland despite her global acting career. Having grown up on the Gold Coast, she has often spoken about her fond childhood memories in Currumbin Valley. The secluded nature of the estate, combined with its acreage and rural lifestyle within driving distance of the coast, is thought to be an appealing retreat for a high-profile individual seeking to remain connected to her roots. Neither Robbie nor her representatives have publicly confirmed the purchase.
