Marco Pierre White Steakhouse in Birmingham Closes Abruptly
The restaurant and its associated hotel ceased trading with immediate effect after 15 years of operation.
Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill Birmingham and The Cube Hotel have ceased trading "with immediate effect," according to a notice posted on the establishments' doors. Both venues, located in the 231-foot-tall Cube building in Birmingham's Mailbox district, had been in operation for 15 years.
Staff were reportedly informed of the closure only hours before the notice was displayed and before the restaurant stopped accepting bookings. The notice stated that the affairs of MSHA Global Investments Limited, trading as The Cube Hotel, are being managed by joint administrators. Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Marco Pierre White and the hotel for comment.
The British steakhouse operated under the brand of celebrity chef Marco Pierre White, who became the youngest chef to earn three Michelin stars at age 33 in 1995. The restaurant was known for its 360-degree panoramic views of Birmingham from the 25th floor.
News of the closure has elicited mixed reactions online. Some users expressed sadness, calling it a favorite restaurant, while others commented that the establishment had declined in quality in recent months.
Earlier this year, Insider Media reported that Knight Frank was appointed to sell the hotel and its franchised restaurant on behalf of joint administrators Richard Easterby and Nick Simmonds of Quantuma Advisory LTD.
