M&S Partners with Luxury Lingerie Brand Coco de Mer for New Collection

Marks & Spencer has launched a 24-piece collection in collaboration with the luxury British lingerie label Coco de Mer. The partnership aims to blend Coco de Mer's renowned sensual designs with M&S's accessible approach to intimate apparel.

Lucy Litwack, CEO of Coco de Mer, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting that M&S represents a significant part of many women's history with lingerie. "Marks & Spencer has been selling bras since the 1920s," Litwack stated. "I think it's everybody's first underwear purchase. I called my mother and asked if she remembered buying my first bra and she said, ‘Of course I do. It was M&S. Everybody went there.’ It's part of the fabric of women's lives."

Founded in 2001 by Samantha Roddick, daughter of The Body Shop founder Anita Roddick, Coco de Mer has a long-standing reputation for creating glamorous and empowering lingerie. Litwack joined the company in 2014 and acquired it three years later.

Litwack shared her personal philosophy on lingerie, emphasizing its role in female empowerment and self-care. "Lingerie used to be considered something that women wore for someone else," she explained. "At Coco everything we do is very glamorous, but it’s about bringing joy to women. My focus is on the importance of female pleasure, of sensuality and making us feel good about ourselves." She also highlighted the importance of choosing underwear that makes one feel confident, suggesting bodysuits as a versatile option for those seeking support and a sleek silhouette. For those looking for timeless pieces, Litwack recommended a black three-piece lace set, citing its enduring appeal.

Regarding style advice, Litwack advocated for high-waisted, retro-inspired briefs, describing them as "incredibly sexy" for their blend of coverage and allure. She also pointed to the Belle balcony bra, a signature Coco de Mer shape, as an "age-defying" style. "my 79-year-old mother wears hers under dinner jackets, with the lace showing across her decolletage and it’s perfect," she noted.

The M&S x Coco de Mer collection is available from October 15, with prices ranging from £15 to £55 on the M&S website.
