Lush to Exit 10 Westfield Stores in Australia Over Three Years

Lush, the global cosmetics retailer, will close 10 of its stores across Australia over the next three years as it ends its partnership with Westfield. The company confirmed it will not renew its leases with the shopping center giant as part of a broader objective to align with community "ethics."

The decision means Lush will depart Westfield locations in Parramatta, Penrith, Miranda, and Kotara in New South Wales; Chermside, Carindale, and North Lakes in Queensland; Fountain Gate in Victoria; and Booragoon and Carousel in Western Australia. This move will leave one Lush store remaining in Perth, with two of its current three Perth locations situated within Westfield centers.

A Lush spokesperson told News.com.au that the company aims to increase its presence across Australia by serving local communities in "appropriate" locations with stores of suitable size and type. "Lush is at its best when it reflects not just the skin and haircare needs of local communities, but amplifies that community's values and aspirations," the spokesperson stated.

The company does not intend to reduce its overall presence in Australia but rather shift to strip locations with significant foot traffic. Further details are expected to be released as the Westfield leases conclude over the next 36 months.

Lush is known for its strong alignment with various social and humanitarian causes, including animal welfare, waste reduction, and social justice issues. The brand frequently launches fundraising initiatives tied to these causes.

In October 2025, Lush drew attention and sparked debate when it closed its Australian stores and ceased operations at its Sydney factory for 24 hours to highlight the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The store windows featured banners that read: "Stop starving Gaza – we are closed in solidarity." Some shopping center managements, such as at Westfield Chermside, covered store windows to obscure the banners from public view. The brand's actions received a mixed reaction, with some customers supporting Lush's stance and others criticizing its approach.
