Krispy Kreme Recalls World Cup Doughnuts Over Undeclared Hazelnut Allergen

Krispy Kreme is recalling two of its World Cup-themed doughnut products due to the potential presence of undeclared hazelnuts, a serious allergen. The affected items include the "Pitch Perfect Doughnut" and the "Match Day Dozen."

The "Pitch Perfect Doughnut," designed to resemble a football pitch with green and white icing, contains a white chocolate filling. According to Krispy Kreme's allergy information, its ingredients should only include wheat, soya, and milk. The "Match Day Dozen," priced at £21.99, contains 12 doughnuts, including two "Pitch Perfect Doughnuts," along with other varieties. The "Pitch Perfect Doughnut" is also sold individually.

The recall specifically targets batches with best-before dates of June 21, 2026, and June 22, 2026. For the "Match Day Dozen," the entire 12-doughnut box is included if it has these best-before dates.

These products are believed to have been manufactured at Krispy Kreme's Peterborough facility, supplying stores in Leicester, Nottingham, Ipswich, Norwich, and Cambridge, as well as supermarkets in those areas. Customers can check the best-before date on the tamper-evident sticker.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued an alert warning consumers that the products "may contain hazelnuts (nuts), making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to hazelnuts (nuts)." The FSA advised customers with a hazelnut allergy not to consume the doughnuts.

Krispy Kreme is urging customers who have purchased the affected products to return them to the store of purchase for a full refund, without the need for a receipt. A company spokesperson stated that Krispy Kreme takes consumer responsibilities and product safety standards very seriously and apologized for any inconvenience caused.
